A student given a photo with text (or another channel of delivery) to explain the image, rather than only having the photo, will understand the reasoning behind the photo and actively learn and integrate the knowledge into his or her mind for future reference.
Here are some of the ideas we all liked from our individual hypotheses. We need to combine them somehow.
Active learning
Multiple channels of delivery
Hands-on learning
Artifacts
Camera Use
I tried combining a hypotheses with all of these principles. It was way too complex and would be nearly impossible to test. I think we should just use Alli's hypotheses. Maybe we could restructure it a little to include one or two other hypotheses that relate but I don't think implementing several in to one is ideal.
Hey Alli, it looks like we were editing at the same time. Here is what I wrote using your hypotheses. We'll put them both down for now and see if Tressa or Whitney want to add or change anything.
If a student is given text or audio information, they are more likely to retain and understand that information if it is paired with graphical imagery such as a video, photo, or illustration. If the student can see a photo that helps explain the textual information, the student will understand the reasoning behind the photo and integrate the knowledge into his or her mind for future reference
